Upper Mustang Trek to hidden paradise of Mustang is a fabulous tour; it is described as a mystique valley and the last forbidden kingdom of Nepal and was just opened for foreigners in 1992. The trekking tour to Lo Manthang- isolated region is a incredibly satisfying one for those who want to experience the hospitality and warmth of the locals living in this remote region.
Upper Mustang Lying in the rain shadow of the Himalayas is perhaps the last enclave of pristine Tibetan culture. Forbidden & isolated from the rest of the world it was able to evolve its own distinctive culture and tradition which is so rich & goes on as it has for centuries in unhurried pace. As everywhere in the Himalayas, this area provides spectacular mountain scenery highlighted by Dhaulagiri at 8167m and Annapurna I at 8091m. You will be surrounded by more than 35 mountains over 6000 metres high. The elevation of the trails rise from 2815m to 3780m above sea level.
Set off by Tourist bus towards Besisahar(7hr), gateway to the Annapurna Circuit. A long walk through Besisahar bazaar leads downstream, followed then by an ascent up a series of rocky steps. There are several more ascents and descents as the trail makes its way through sub-tropical forests and across the rice terraces of Sera. Further on, across a saggy suspension bridge over the Khudi Khola is Bhulbule.

Enter the upper Manang region, where the rainfall is much lower. You will notice much contrast with the landscape and vegetation; the cold arid climate creates a much harsher environment. This area is a fascinating mix of barren cliffs and exotic rock formations in contrast to the snow covered Himalayan peaks. You have entered another world; Manang Village is set at 3500m.

After acclimatized at Manang we continue our adventure for Tilicho Lake, from Manang one heads out through the western gates and then one follows the path down to the the river. After crossing the the Khangsar Khola on the bridge below Khangsar and ascend the slope to village, a village still in the old Tibetan style and which is also known as last village of Nepal. Continue from Khangsar on a large path. Pass a Gompa (monastery). The route ahead goes on a recently constructed path up towards a high ridge. At one point is an intersection. One path maintains the altitude, traversing the slopes towards a place where the valley is narrow; the other continues to ascend towards the line of the ridge. The former is the old path, and is much more difficult as it goes on really steep screed; the latter is the new path that goes a completely different way. Continue along the new path, reach a high crest, and descend on switch backs carved out through the screed slopes to a side valley of the main valley. At its bottom is a brook. On the other side of it is a building known as Tilicho Base Camp at elevation of 4200 meters.
